Rifqa Bary must be given asylum.

I have been following this story for several months and watched this go from bad to worse. Rifqa Bary is in fear for her life. She is waiting today in a foster home somewhere in Ohio to learn if she will be returned to her family who have threatened to kill her or be granted status as a ward of the state. What this 17-year old girl needs most is to be granted asylum and protected from harm until she reaches the legal age of 18 next August. The only thing she did was to convert from Islam to become a Christian but that has made her an apostate in the eyes of her family and her Muslim religion demands that she be put to death. Read the following story that was compiled from information on Pamela Geller's web site Atlas Shrugs and from my original research.

On Monday, November 16th there will be a rally of support for Rifqa Bary outside the Franklin County Juvenile Court building in Columbus, Ohio. Details follow:

Pamela Geller in co-operation with Robert Spencer and Dr. Andrew Bostom are organizing a Rally for Rifqa on the day of her dependency hearing in support of the reinstatement of Rifqa's rights and freedom of religion. Some of the warriors coming to our rally.........

Simon Deng - ex-slave from Sudan

Nonie Darwish - Executive Director, Former Muslims United
James Lafferty - chairman of the Virginia Anti-Sharia Task Force
Amil Imani  Pro-democracy Iranian activist

Jamal Jivanjee - apostate, Pastor and Rifqa's friend
Patricia Said, mother of Amina and Sarah Said

Honor killing victims' family members

Her parents, here illegally from Sri Lanka, perjured themselves repeatedly and abused Rifqa for years. They are devout Muslims. The punishment for apostasy in Islam is death. Why can't Rifqa choose her own attorney? She is up against an array of legal talent and her parents have changed lawyers as frequently as toddlers change diapers.

Muslim convert to Christianity flees Columbus, Ohio home in fear of her life.

This is the story of a 17-year old girl named Rifqa Bary who was born in Sri Lanka and came to America with her family about 8 years ago. She was raised in a devout Muslim home in Columbus, Ohio. The Bary family attended the American Islamic Waqf Noor Islamic Cultural Center mosque in Dublin, Ohio which has been the location for numerous radical Muslim affairs. See Central Ohioans Against Terrorism web site:

This mosque preaches Islamic Sharia law. Under Sharia, if a Muslim leaves Islam or converts to another religion he or she is an “apostate,” to be killed. Under Sharia every Muslim has the right to kill such an apostate without any questions asked.

Back in July, the news reports mentioned Rifqa Bary’s recent trips to churches in her community; some of her friends were worried that her going missing had something to do with her recent conversion.

Rifqa Bary hitchhiked her way to the home of Blake and Beverly Lorenz, pastors of Global Revolution Church, in Orlando, Florida. Rifqa Bary had been living with the Lorenz family, whom she met through a prayer group on Facebook until she was removed and placed in Child Protection Services in Florida.

Nonie Darwish: Saving Rifqa; Apostates Demand Protection
Nonie Darwish, author, writer, activist and an American woman born muslim in Egypt warns the West of the dangers of Radical Islam and Sharia law. Here she speaks for Rifqa Bary.

Saving Rifqa; Apostates Demand Protection

In spite of the clear danger to the life of Muslims who leave Islam, both the legal system and mainstream media still don’t get it. The most recent case in the US of the 17-year old girl, Rifqa Bary, is an example. US courts need proof (even though it is clearly stated in Islamic law books) that Islamic Law condemn apostates to death and encourage any Muslim on the street, even family members, to kill them. Western media does not seem to be interested in the topic. That is the same media that dedicates weeks of valuable air time to ridiculous claims of human rights violations only to certain privileged groups in America.

Ms. Bary, Muslim convert to Christianity, had good instincts when she realized the great danger to her life and escaped from her home in Ohio and sought protection from the Christian community in Orlando Florida. If she had not escaped, she could have been yet another statistic of Muslims killed for leaving Islam.

I will keep writing articles and books on the topic of Muslim Law, Sharia, until the West fully understand that threat to their way of life and that Islamic Sharia and democracy cannot co-exist. The following are some laws on apostasy in mainstream Sharia books:

1- Apostates are to be given three days to repent and return to Islam. If s/he refuses, s/he is immediately killed. All Sharia books agree unanimously on this point. (Hanafi law in general, Shafi’i law f1.3, Hanbali law (from Al Mughni), Maliki law and Codified Islamic law).

2- It is obligarory for the califph to ask him to repent and return to Islam. If he does, it is accepted from him, but if he refuses, he is immediately killed.

3- There is no indemnity for killing an apostate (O: or any expiation, since it is killing someone who deserves to die)

The above laws have kept Muslims enslaved inside the iron curtain of the Islamic State under penalty of death for 1400 years and counting. Laws encouraging the killing of non-Muslims, especially those who left Islam, also extend to non-Muslim nations and not just individuals. According to Sharia, non-Muslim nations are invited to convert to Islam and if they refuse a jihad war must begin. The commandment to wage violent wars against non-Muslim countries was given a pretty name by Sharia; jihad became a sacred duty for every Muslim head of State and individual.

It is astounding how many Muslims have been desensitized to feeling of any sympathy or guilt toward murdered victims of apostasy laws and jihad. In Pakistan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc, the majority of the population believe that apostates must be killed and that jihad against non-Muslim countries a badge of honor. I do not want to see the same desensitization happen in the West, but the silence of Western media is deafening.

The US government must protect its citizens not only from the terrorism of jihad, but also from Islamic Laws condemning Muslims to death and encouraging vigilante street justice.

How can a former Muslim like Rifqa, or like myself, live in peace in America when there are neighborhood mosques reading scriptures, to their believers telling them to kill Muslims who left the religion?. Even if 10% of Muslims in America follow Sharia as it is taught, we are in trouble. Muslim scriptures such as the Sahih hadith by Mohammad 9:50 states: “No Umma (a member of the Muslim community) should be killed for killing a Kaffir (an infidel). . . Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him.”

There is no peace for the apostate, not even in the West. The above threat is real and will increase exponentially with the growth of the Muslim population and those who demand Sharia as a religious right. No religion should give the right to its followers to kill others, period.

Former Muslims need protection now from the US government and court system. We need protection from Sharia Islamic Law.

Here is a plea from Wafa Sultan for Rifqa Bary:
The bravest woman in the United States , Wafa Sultan,  expert on Islam and the only American citizen forced to live in hiding in the U.S. because of the death threats against by her devout Muslims, speaks out for Rifqa Bary. Author, writer, speaker Sultan was born to a Sunni Muslim  family in Baniyas, Syria. Dr. Sultan trained as a psychiatrist in Syria and is a US naturalized citizen.

Unfortunately Rifqa Bary’s case highlights the danger of creeping Jihad in the Western world. This is not only because of the imminent danger the teenage girl may face right here in the US, had the court decided to have her return to her parents’ home, but also because of the mainstream media’s weak response to the severity of this case. Regrettably, the lack of interest by the media in covering her case comes at the expense of the public’s responsibility to learn the truth about Islam’s detrimental Sharia (Islamic Law) tenets.

I was born and raised as a Muslim in Syria. I practiced Islam for thirty years of my life. Now I am a known human rights activist striving to save our future Muslim generations from the impact of the violent, hateful Islamic doctrines embedded in the Sharia. My life is also threatened, not only by my own extended family, but by countless men who consider themselves devout Muslims. Under Sharia, if a Muslim leaves Islam or converts to another religion he / she is an “apostate,” to be killed. Under Sharia every Muslim has the right to kill such an apostate without any questions asked.

After hearing the story of Rifqa Bary I urge well meaning American citizens to take action and keep this innocent girl out of her family’s reach. There are all kinds of reasons to believe that she will be harmed both emotionally and physically, or worse—be killed—once her family has charge of her. Our Western court system must be educated on Islamic apostasy laws to understand Rifqa Bary’s predicament, and the plight of all those like her who choose to leave Islam.

I therefore implore our court authorities who are involved in this case: take notice and listen to individuals like myself. Keeping Rifqa protected and away from her family is the proper way to go both legally and morally.

What we must do:

We need Ohio to stay out of Rifqa's case. Ohio is biased, Florida is neutral. Look at the remarks law enforcement has already made, before they conducted any investigation.

“Columbus police also question the girl's claim of being in danger. Mohamed Bary "comes across to me as a loving, caring, worried father about the whereabouts and the health of his daughter," said Sgt. Jerry Cupp, chief of the Columbus police missing persons bureau.”

Sounds like someone got to the guy.

Yaser Said, was a lovely man too. He murdered his two daughters in an honor killing in Lewisville, Texas. See:

Chaudhry Rashid was kind and gentle. He murdered his daughter in an honor killing in Jonesboro, Georgia. He claimed he was innocent. Techically he is right under Sharia law. See:,2933,378881,00.html

As was Mohammad Parvez, a dear man. He murdered his daughter in Toronto, Canada for refusing to wear a hajib.

And so was Mohammed Shafia a loving family man. He murdered his three daughters in Montreal, Canada in an honor killing. See:

The police and child services in Ohio have spoken to Rifqa's friends. Law enforcement knows about the abuse.

Back in July, the news reports mentioned her recent trips to churches in her community; some of her friends were worried that her going missing had something to do with her recent conversion.

The authorities also know that the night before Rifqa left the house - she left a note for her parents. Rifqa said here:

“I wrote my parents a note, I said, I refuse to deny Jesus and He’s my Lord and Savior and I pray you find His forgiveness and mercy and I love them both dearly. I wrote that, but they never showed it to the police officers. They want me back home, I can’t go back to Ohio, you guys don’t understand. That community, they’re like – I will die within a week. My life is at stake. My dad threatened me.”

They also know she wrote notes to her friends and posted it on facebook, "please pray for me, My mom discovered my journal. She said just wait until your dad gets home". Rifqa asked for their prayers. So the police were well aware of this intolerance of religious views.

It was the father who deleted her facebook page. It was her father who disconnected her cell phone. He had plans for that girl. He had plans.
