That was then and this is now. This is a short recap of America's recent political history. Subtitled, The Decline and Fall of the Democratic Party. With a generous hat tip to the late Lord Acton for his astute observation: "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely." He must have had a crystal ball when he wrote that in 1887.
In 2008 the Republican Party took a bath in the elections mainly due to the hose job the leftist news media gave them. The left wing news media had become infatuated with an inexperienced politician whose ties to extremists groups like William Ayers Weather Underground, the Marxist/Socialist New Party and Rev. Jeremiah Wright's anti-American pseudo-christian church. Having no major qualifications, whatsoever, other than being a former community organizer and part of the Chicago Democratic political machine, the media created its own image of Barack Hussein Obama. Superman.
Following years of negative publicity financed by leftist groups like George Soros' MoveOn.org the general public's opinion of Republicans was worn down from the unceasing barrage of television attacks. These attacks plus the sort of demented symbolism that turned Obama into a messianic figure foisted upon a mindless public blinded them to the truth and resulted in this: The Republicans had taken a bath.
Then in 2009, after seeing what the true nature of the Democratic Party was like when they had absolute control of the Federal government, the American public suddenly woke up. The ranting of a stock trader reminiscent of the famous movie line: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore." gave birth to the Tea Party movement and 2-million people from all across America descended on Washington on 9-12-09 to voice their complaints. Suddenly Democrats everywhere began to see the writing on the wall. Their power trip was over and they realized they had awakened a sleeping giant and the giant was very angry. The mid- term elections were about to become a disaster of monumental proportions for Democrats everywhere. The Republicans had become the Democrats worst nightmare. And this is all they could dream about every night.
Remember that happy little elephant that seemed to be enjoying the waterfall two years ago? It grew up. This is what it looks like today after a healthy dose of TEA. Today is not a good day to be a Democrat.
