According to Wikipedia, a “phobia” is “(from the Greek meaning "fear" or "morbid fear"). [It] is an irrational, intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive and unreasonable desire to avoid the feared stimulus.
This post is about the two opposing points of view about one type of phobia in America that has many people concerned. That is Islamophobia. A fear that Islam was the motivating factor behind the Sept. 11, 2001 attack carried out by 19 Muslims, the Ft. Hood, Texas massacre carried out by one Muslim, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the Christmas Day bomber, attempted by one Muslim, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the Times Square bomber, attempted by one Muslim Faisal Shahzad, the 2010 Portland car bomb plot attempted by one Muslim Mohamed Osman Mohamud and dozens of other attacks and unsuccessful attacks that were all perpetrated by Muslims, many of whom yelled “Allahu Akbar” God is Great in Arabic when they committed them. The other point of view is summed up by a noted Islamic apologist named Dr. James Zogby.
James J. Zogby is the author of Arab Voices and the founder and president of the Arab American Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based organization which serves as a political and policy research arm of the Arab American community. He is a senior analyst (which makes him completely impartial) with his brother's polling firm, Zogby International, and is a lecturer and scholar on Middle East issues. He is also member of the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee who's titular head is the current occupant in the White House, another Muslim named Barack Hussein Obama. So now Dr. Zogby enlightens us on the danger facing our society called Islamophobia.
"Islamophobia can create radicalisation," by James Zogby in The Nation (Pakistan), March 7:
"Let me state quite directly: Islamophobia and those who promote it are a greater threat to the United States of America than Anwar al-Awlaqi and his ragtag team of terrorists."
It must be noted that the person James Zogby is speaking about is Anwar al-Awlaki, born April 22, 1971 (1971-04-22) (age 39) in Las Cruces, New Mexico) is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Yemen, of Yemeni descent. He is an Islamic lecturer, spiritual leader, and former imam who has inspired almost all of the Islamic terrorist acts mentioned above against the West. According to U.S. officials, he is a senior talent recruiter and motivator, who has also become “operational” as a planner and trainer, "for al-Qaeda and all of its franchises. The U.S. Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence warned that al-Awlaki "is extraordinarily dangerous, committed to carrying out deadly attacks on Americans and others worldwide"
Following the story about James Zogby's article on Jihad Watch, written by Robert Spencer, who said:
"Did you catch that? "Islamophobia," by which Zogby means a critical look at how jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism, is worse than repeatedly inciting to mass murder, as al-Awlaki has done."
a reader who calls himself Buraq hit the nail on the head when he said on March 7, 2011:
"If Islamophobia is an irrational fear of Islam, then what is the word for a rational fear of Islam?"
Precisely! How can one be suffering from an irrational fear of Islam when so many Islamic leaders are making statements proclaiming a worldwide Islamic war is coming soon. This is also from another article on Jihad Watch written by Robert Spencer and it bears close scrutiny.
"Islamic leadership is coming whether people like it or not"
Whether you like it or not, kuffar. "Saudi Islamic Scholar Muhammad Musa Al-Sharif: The Day Is Coming When Islam Will Rule the World Again, from MEMRITV, February 25 (thanks to all who sent this in):
Following are excerpts from an interview with Saudi Islamic scholar Dr. Muhammad Musa Al-Sharif, which aired on Iqra TV on February 25, 2011.
Muhammad Musa Al-Sharif: These events are paving the way for a greater thing to come. They are paving the way for a great Islam that is coming with force, because the world is in need of leadership. The current leadership – Communism, capitalism, and so on – has gone bankrupt. Only Islam is left to lead the world. The Prophet Muhammad foretold this clearly in several hadiths. Islamic leadership is coming whether people like it or not. Therefore, we must become soldiers of this emerging leadership.
[...]
When after the 16th century, the Islamic nation was removed from power – having been struck by all those tragedies – and others took over the leadership of mankind, we witnessed the worst possible results: oppression, global tyranny, arrogance, and despotism. The only thing that the sheiks, preachers, and scholars are demanding is that Islam rule the world once again....
According to the tag line for the web site Bare Naked Islam, “It isn’t Islamophobia when they really ARE trying to kill you.” So if it is true that they (those Muslims mentioned above) ARE trying to kill us then this must be a valid statement. Therefore the fear about Islam cannot be a phobia.
If the jihadis keep this up they will most certainly experience "Infidelaphobia" which occurs when we begin killing them in retaliation in a wholesale fashion.
ReplyDeleteThe question remains, at which point do we Americans as a nation begin to recognize a threat?
A) When they load the weapon?
B) When they point the weapon?
C) When they aim?
D) When they release the safety?
E) When they begin to put pressure on the trigger?
A rational person recognizes (A) as a threat and makes preparations accordingly. A liberal wonders why he has offended the offender.
We can't fix stupid. This PC crap is going to get a lot of people killed.
I emailed you a longer response. Interesting post, but to make what was obviously too long short, you're worried about the wrong thing. It's not Islam, it's terrorists you should be concerned about. There are one and a half billion Muslims in the world (and Barack Hussein Obama is not one of them--he's a Christian). Only a tiny segment of a minority sect of a minority movement within Islam practices terrorism. We should not hand over the title Islam to them. They do not deserve it. They are not Islam.
