Reasons to oppose a Muslim Mosque in Florence, Kentucky

Islam is the same in every part of the world, whether it is being practiced in Florence, Kentucky or in some country in the Middle East. Islam is the official religion of Saudi Arabia and the principle religion practiced in every Middle-Eastern country. Islam is practiced using the Koran (Qur'an), which is the accumulated writings of the Prophet Mohammed, and the Hadiths, which are narrations concerning the words and deeds of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Hadiths are regarded by traditional Islamic schools of jurisprudence as important tools for understanding the Qur'an and in matters of jurisprudence. In Saudi Arabia it is against Islamic law to practice any other religion or to even possess a Christian Bible or Jewish Torah.
There is only one version of the Qur'an and the Hadiths used throughout the world. There is no difference between the Qur'an and the Hadiths taught and preached in Islamic countries and those taught and preached in every mosque in the United States and in any other non-Islamic nation. The supreme law of Islam as proclaimed in the Qur'an is Shari'a. To every Muslim, Shari'a Law supersedes all other laws. Shari'a is more than just a set of religious laws, it is the political constitution of all of Islam. In fact Islam is less of a “religion” than it is a “religious ideology”. It includes a mandatory and highly specific legal and political plan for the whole society: Shari’a. There is no separation between the religion and the political in Islam, rather Islam and Shari’a constitute a totalitarian means of ordering society at every level including ritual worship, transactions and contracts, morals and manners, beliefs and punishments. Official Shari’a courts already operate in the U.K. handling cases ranging divorce and financial disputes to domestic violence. As Muslim populations increase in cities across America so has Shari'a Law been allowed to replace our local laws by politically correct politicians. In Dearborn, Michigan where a large Muslim population lives, Shari’a Law is already being implemented in police matters. Last month, police in Dearborn, Michigan arrested Christian missionaries for handing out copies of the Gospel of St. John on charges of "disturbing the peace." They were doing so on a public street outside an Arab festival in a way that is completely permissible by law, but, of course, forbidden by Shari’a's rules on proselytizing. This is a clear case of freedom of speech and the exercise of religious freedom being sacrificed in deference to Shari’a's intolerance against the preaching of religions other than Islam.
Under Shari'a Law a woman is not permitted to be seen in public unless she is completely covered in a burqa. In New Jersey, a Muslim woman is allowed to have a driver's license using a photograph of herself that does not show her face. How anyone can use such a legal document for proof of identity is beyond reason. Male perverts have even taken advantage of the concealment and have been found dressed in burqas after going into woman's public rest rooms. Security cameras are useless in banks and business' when men or women, fully covered in burqas, enter the premises to commit a crime. To make matters worse, in Canada, anyone dressed in a burqa is permitted to pass through airport security checkpoints without being searched, questioned or patted down as is common to all passengers at U.S. airports. All of these things have changed because Muslims have demanded that their rights under Shari'a Law are more important than our existing rules and regulations.
Islam is not compatible with Western culture or the laws and Constitution of the United States or even with Democracy because of the Islamic command to follow Shari'a Law. John Marion wrote an excellent testament to show that Islam cannot co-exist with a Democracy. I reprint a major portion of his discussion here:
Can Islam and Democracy Co-Exist?
John Marion
September 2005
Much of the debate about Islam and democracy focuses on the role of women in society, voting issues, and freedom of religion. For each of these issues, there is some precedent that Muslims can create societies which give the appearance of a free and democratic society.
However, the proof whether or not Islam is compatible with democracy really comes down to the issue of freedom of religion. And what better place in the entire world to prove that Islam is in favor of freedom of religion, than the United States of America?
When Muslims speak about freedom of religion, they usually mean that some non-Muslim minorities should be allowed to exist in a Muslim society. We see examples of this in Muslim majority countries, such as in Egypt and Iraq, where ancient Christian communities still exist.
There is virtually no Muslim society where non-Muslims are permitted to thrive and grow. It is forbidden for non-Muslims to promote their religion among Muslims. This is true especially of Christianity.
Islam has a very poor track record of promoting freedom of religion. When the Muslims point to the fact that they have not totally eliminated Christian populations as proof of their support for freedom of religion, we should indeed be skeptical of their commitment to freedom of religion.
More importantly, the true test of religious tolerance and whether Islam supports freedom of religion is summed up in one question: Are Muslims free to leave Islam?
If Muslims do not have the freedom to leave Islam and convert to Christianity, then Islam is not compatible with democracy. Period.
A book entitled Democracy According to Islam by Dr. Niaz Faizi Kabuli of Afghanistan devotes 178 pages to the topic. Dr. John Esposito of Georgetown University recognizes this book as an important work. In his book, Dr. Kabuli makes a good case for how Islam is compatible with democracy. Except on one point.
That one point is found on pages 106 and 107. Dr. Kabuli states that “Islam is strict as regards apostasy.” He describes the fact that Islam does not allow Muslims to leave Islam. If any Muslim does leave Islam, he is an apostate who must be given a chance to return to Islam. But if the person refuses to return to Islam, the “punishment is death”.
The law of apostasy in Islam is crystal clear proof that Islam is not compatible with democracy. There are virtually no Muslim leaders anywhere in the world who have disavowed the Islamic law of apostasy. Including Muslim leaders in America.
If there is ever a place in the entire world and if there is ever a time in the history of Islam for Muslim leaders to do away with the law of apostasy, that place is America and the time is now.
The Muslim leaders in America are silent. Where is the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), to name one organization, on this issue? CAIR promotes itself as a civil rights organization. But what about the civil rights of Muslims who decide Mohammed is not a prophet and decide to believe in and follow Jesus Christ as the Son of God?
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of former Muslims in America who have become followers of Jesus Christ. Many of these have been threatened with death simply for exercising what truly is freedom of religion.
In the July 28 edition of FrontPageMagazine.com, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross writes about former Muslims who have become Christians. Some of these Muslim background Christians are currently active in evangelizing Muslims with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is causing quite a stir in the Arab world.
Ahmed Paul, a Muslim background Christian himself says, “The Middle East hasn’t before seen free debate about Islam in which an apostate shows himself.” The apostates Mr. Paul is speaking about are going on Middle East satellite television and proclaiming the message of Christ to their own people.
These apostates from Islam are now our brothers and sisters in Christ. But their lives are in danger even here in America.
When will the so-called moderate Muslims of America come forward and really demonstrate their belief that Islam is compatible with democracy by stating that Muslims are free to leave Islam and that those who choose to leave should not be punished under the law of apostasy?
Taqiyya – the command to lie to non-Muslims.
Muslims are allowed to deceive non-Muslims if it helps Islam. For non-Muslims this principle, called Taqiyya, is another surprising concept of Islam. While most other religions speak highly of truthfulness the Qur’an instructs Muslims to lie to non-Muslims about their beliefs and their political ambitions to protect and spread Islam. There are many examples of today’s Islamic leaders saying one thing in English for the Western press and then saying something entirely different to their own followers in Arabic a few days later. Deceiving the enemy is always useful in war and Islam is at war with the non-Islamic world until the whole world follows Shari’a Law. All non-Muslims living in non-Islamic states are therefore enemies. So deceiving Westerners is totally acceptable – even encouraged – if it can forward the goals of the spread of Islam.
According to Wikipedia, the on-line encyclopedia,
Muslims and Islamists are sometimes accused of practicing taqiyya in contemporary political debates. For instance, this accusation has been leveled by Fouad Ajami* at the theologian Tariq Ramadan, by James Woolsey* at Islamist terrorists, and by Michael Rubin* and others at the government of Iran. Others have responded that the accusers misunderstand the meaning of the term and that politicians of all religions lie on occasion, without any religious justification being necessary.

Qur’an 3:28 enjoins believers not to take the company of doubters unless as a means of safeguarding themselves. “Let not the believers take those who deny the truth for their allies in preference to the believers – since he who does this cuts himself off from God in everything – unless it be to protect yourself against them in this way…” Regarding 3:28, Ibn Kathir, a prominent authority writes, "Whoever at any time or place fears their [infidels'] evil may protect himself through outward show." As proof of this, he quotes Muhammad's companion, al-Hassan, who said, “taqiyya is acceptable till the Day of Judgment [i.e., in perpetuity].”
As a recent example, check the facts about the Holy Land Foundation which were seemingly raising money for orphans, but in fact giving the money to terrorists. They deceived good-hearted western infidels (that’s all non-Muslims) into giving money to organizations that were actively killing western infidels. The Holy Land Foundation was the largest Islamic charity in the United States. Headquartered in Richardson, Texas, it was originally known as Occupied Land Fund. In 2007, federal prosecutors brought charges against the organization for funding Hamas and other "Islamic terrorist organizations". Prosecutors also named the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Islamic Society of North America, and the North American Islamic Trust as unindicted co-conspirators in the case.

Its assets were frozen by the European Union and U.S., and it was shut down by the U.S. government following the discovery that it was funding Hamas. The 2008 trial of the charity leaders was dubbed the "largest terrorism financing prosecution in American history. In 2009, the founders of the organization were given life sentences for "funneling $12 million to Hamas.

Do the research yourself this is not an isolated case.

Muslim organizations worldwide often declare that Islam is a religion of peace but what does that really mean? To paraphrase an observation from the days of the cold war,  Peace to a communist means the absence of resistance to communism. The word "Islam" means submission so it stands that "peace" in the Muslim sense means the absence of resistance to Islam.

It seems easy for a Muslim to quote a peaceful verse from the early parts from the Qur’an while, by following the principle of Taqiyya neglecting to mention the fact that it has been officially abrogated by later more violent verses. According to the Qur’an the world will be at peace only when Islam and Shari’a reign in every country – and never until then. This is why every Muslim can truthfully say that Islam is a religion of peace.

One of the most revealing pieces of information among these enclosures is a reprint of a 7 year old story from the Washington Post Spreading Saudi Fundamentalism in U.S. Network of Wahhabi Mosques, Schools, Web Sites Probed by FBI, published on October 2, 2003. It details the connection between the Saudi Arabian financed mosques in the U.S. and the Wahhabi textbooks used in these mosques. Here is one of the striking comments from this report:

“Backed by money from Saudi Arabia, Wahhabis have built or taken over hundreds of mosques in North America and opened branches of Saudi universities here for the training of imams as part of the effort to spread their beliefs, which are intolerant of Christianity, Judaism and even other strains of Islam.

"A growing body of accepted evidence and expert research demonstrates that the Wahhabi ideology that dominates, finances and animates many groups here in the United States, indeed is antithetical to the values of tolerance, individualism and freedom as we conceive these things," said Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), who has been holding hearings on Wahhabism.”

FBI: CAIR is a front group, and Holy Land Foundation tapped Hamas clerics for fundraisers Oct 07, 2008  by Jason Trahan/Reporter
The FBI took a new slap at the Council on American-Islamic Relations today at the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial.

FBI Special Agent Lara Burns was going over more transcripts from the Philadelphia meeting -- the 1993 gathering of Holy Land officials and Hamas sympathizers that the government contends was meant to brainstorm ways to downplay the Foundation's extremist ties -- when talk turned to a passage from defendant Shukri Abu Baker.

He is quoted on the wiretap transcript talking about how it would be beneficial to have more traditional, secular American organizations to help spread the Islamist message.

He and others envisioned an "alternative" organization "which can benefit from a new atmosphere, one whose Islamic hue is not very conspicuous," he said according to the transcript.

John Esposito, Islamophobia, and the Ground Zero Mosque
By Stephen Schwartz
John L. Esposito, professor of religion and international affairs and director of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, is America's best-known apologist  for Saudi Wahhabism, the Turkish fundamentalist Justice and Development Party (AKP), and Islamist ideologies in general. To many, he personifies all that's wrong with Middle East studies in America today.

Esposito asks, "Why should Muslims who are building a center be any more suspect than Jews who build a synagogue or center or Christians who build a church or conference center?" Answer: Neither Jewish nor Christian houses of worship are overwhelmingly financed from outside U.S. borders, and neither the Jewish nor Christian faith communities in America are overwhelmingly dominated by radicals. But too many of the major mosques in America are financed by Saudi Arabia's ultra-radical, fundamentalist, and supremacist Wahhabi sect, while the "Wahhabi lobby" of extremist groups -- the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) at the forefront -- crush American Muslims, suppressing any dissent from radical ideology. For these reasons, as I wrote in the Canadian National Post  in April 2010, American Islam is intellectually impoverished. Esposito, as an academic chieftain in Middle East studies, has contributed to this sad condition.

Saudis have radicalized 80% of US mosques!!!
(no by-line)

Mainstream US Muslim organizations are heavily influenced by Saudi-funded extremists, according to Yehudit Barsky, an expert on terrorism at the American Jewish Committee.

Worse still, Barsky told The Jerusalem Post last week, these “extremist organizations continue to claim the mantle of leadership” over American Islam.

The power of the extremist Wahhabi form of Islam in the United States was created with generous Saudi financing of American Muslim communities over the past few decades. Over 80 percent of the mosques in the United States “have been radicalized by Saudi money and influence,” Barsky said.

I don’t know what can be done about the proposed mosque on Cayton Road, or even if you want to do anything. Since it hasn’t been built yet no one can say whether it will be used to recruit or inspire anti-American feelings. I can tell you that if more information is revealed about how it will be financed then you can begin to connect the dots. The Kentucky Enquirer mentioned that Muhammed Zineddin, president of the Mercy Foundation, who plans to build this mosque was out of the country and could not be reached for comment.
If Muhammed Zineddin has indeed traveled to Saudi Arabia or anywhere in the Middle East, you can assume he went there for financial help. If he did, then there will be Wahhabi material brought in and you can rely on the information I have given you about this. The majority of mosques in America are known to be breeding grounds for trouble. That alone is enough reason to oppose their construction. It should also be noted that Northern Kentucky's own news media, WXIX Channel 19 FOX News ran a story about some anonymous flyers being passed out on Cayton Road warning residents about the mosque. And quess who FOX News went to for an opinion? A representative from CAIR! Of course anyone who is aware that Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal owns a 7 percent stake  in News Corp — the parent company of Fox News — making him the largest shareholder outside the family of News Corp CEO Rupert Murdoch, wouldn't be surprised at all.
Are American Mosques Promoting Hate Ideology?
Despite its limitations, this study highlights an ugly undercurrent in modern Islamic discourse that American-Muslims must openly confront. By Junaid M. Afeef, February 4, 2005
A new study entitled "Saudi Publications on Hate Ideology Fill American Mosques" was recently released by the conservative watchdog organization Freedom House. Whether the study is accurate or not, it will certainly invite greater governmental scrutiny on the American-Muslim community.

The stated purpose of the study is to "probe in detail the content of the Wahhabi ideology that the Saudi government has worked to propagate through books and other publications within [U.S.] borders." Its conclusions and recommendations are of vital concern to the American Muslim community. The American-Muslim leadership in particular needs to analyze the study and to respond quickly and effectively.
If this study's conclusions are accurate, then the American-Muslim community needs to undertake a monumental overhaul of its institutions and the management of its resources and infrastructure. On the other hand, if there are errors, inaccuracies, methodological problems or additional relevant facts not considered in the study, then it behooves the American-Muslim leadership to correct the record. In either case, the failure to act by American-Muslims will be extremely deleterious to the community's safety and well-being.

The North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) is a Saudi-backed organization based in Plainfield, Indiana, that owns Islamic properties and promotes waqf (Islamic endowmenta) in North America. It is the financial arm of the Muslim Students Association.
NAIT finances and holds titles to mosques, Islamic schools, and other real estate to safeguard and pool the assets of the American Muslim community, develops financial vehicles and financial products that are compatible with both Shari'ah and American law, publishes and distributes Islamic literature, provides legal advice to Muslim organizations, and facilitates and coordinates Islamic community projects.

In 2007, NAIT was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation terrorist trial, as was board member Jamal Said.

Background

NAIT is a not-for-profit entity that qualifies as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. NAIT was established in 1973 in Indiana by the Muslim Students Association (MSA) of the United States and Canada, the predecessor of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), by some of the same Muslim Brotherhood members who started the MSA. ISNA's President, Dr. Ingrid Mattson Mattson, is an former member of the NAIT board of directors. A sister organization under the same name registered a few years later in the Canadian province of Ontario.

NAIT supports and provides services to ISNA, MSA, their affiliates, and other Islamic centers and institutions.

Financing mosques and Islamic schools

NAIT offers waqf protection to properties of mosques, safeguards these community assets, and ensures their conformity to Islamic purposes. According to a report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), in 2000 NAIT funded an estimated 27% of the 1,209 mosques in the US. NAIT held title to over 320 properties as of June 2003. Title to about one in four mosques in the US are held by NAIT.

NAIT facilitates the establishment of mosques (such as the Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center, the grounds of which were purchased on June 19, 1983, by NAIT) and Islamic schools by extending limited interest-free loans to needy communities from its investment venture called the Islamic Centers Cooperative Fund (ICCF). About 8% of this fund goes annually to support local communities acquiring and improving mosques. The remainder is placed in real estate and other investments.

The Islamic Academy of Florida in Hillsborough County, Florida, owned by NAIT and founded in 1992 by Sami Al-Arian, was described in a 2003 federal indictment as a base of operations and support for a terrorist cell of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a group said to be responsible for the murders of more than 100 people. The indictment said the Academy's offices were used to communicate with Islamic Jihad operatives, and a woman seeking to support the Palestinian cause was told simply to write a check to the Academy. On March 2, 2006, Al-Arian entered a guilty plea to a charge of conspiracy to help the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, a "specially designated terrorist" organization. Al-Arian was sentenced to 57 months in prison, and ordered deported following his prison term.

In August 2004 Mohammed M. Hossain and Yassin M. Aref, two leaders of a mosque owned by NAIT in Albany, were arrested in a sting operation on charges that they took part in what they thought was a plot to import a shoulder-fired missile and assassinate a Pakistani diplomat in New York City. They were convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2007.

Financial products and services

NAIT develops Islamic financial products that comply with Shari'ah while addressing the investment and financial needs of Muslim organizations, individuals, and their businesses. Over the last two decades, NAIT has established and sponsored mutual funds that invest in companies which meet the universal ethical principles of Islam.

The Saudi Connection How billions in oil money spawned a global terror network

By David E. Kaplan   Posted 12/7/03
The CIA's Illicit Transactions Group isn't listed in any phone book. There are no entries for it on any news database or Internet site. The ITG is one of those tidy little Washington secrets, a group of unsung heroes whose job is to keep track of smugglers, terrorists, and money launderers. In late 1998, officials from the White House's National Security Council called on the ITG to help them answer a couple of questions: How much money did Osama bin Laden have, and how did he move it around? The queries had a certain urgency. A cadre of bin Laden's al Qaeda terrorists had just destroyed two of America's embassies in East Africa. The NSC was determined to find a way to break the organization's back. Working with the Illicit Transactions Group, the NSC formed a task force to look at al Qaeda's finances. For months, members scoured every piece of data the U.S. intelligence community had on al Qaeda's cash. The team soon realized that its most basic assumptions about the source of bin Laden's money--his personal fortune and businesses in Sudan--were wrong. Dead wrong. Al Qaeda, says William Wechsler, the task force director, was "a constant fundraising machine." And where did it raise most of those funds? The evidence was indisputable: Saudi Arabia. America's longtime ally and the world's largest oil producer had somehow become, as a senior Treasury Department official put it, "the epicenter" of terrorist financing. This didn't come entirely as a surprise to intelligence specialists. But until the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, U.S. officials did painfully little to confront the Saudis not only on financing terror but on backing fundamentalists and jihadists overseas. Over the past 25 years, the desert kingdom has been the single greatest force in spreading Islamic fundamentalism, while its huge, unregulated charities funneled hundreds of millions of dollars to jihad groups and al Qaeda cells around the world. Those findings are the result of a five-month investigation by U.S. News. The magazine's inquiry is based on a review of thousands of pages of court records, U.S. and foreign intelligence reports, and other documents. In addition, the magazine spoke at length with more than three dozen current and former counterterrorism officers, as well as government officials and outside experts in Riyadh, the Saudi capital. Among the inquiry's principal findings:

Starting in the late 1980s--after the dual shocks of the Iranian revolution and the Soviet war in Afghanistan--Saudi Arabia's quasi-official charities became the primary source of funds for the fast-growing jihad movement. In some 20 countries, the money was used to run paramilitary training camps, purchase weapons, and recruit new members.

The charities were part of an extraordinary $70 billion Saudi campaign to spread their fundamentalist Wahhabi sect worldwide. The money helped lay the foundation for hundreds of radical mosques, schools, and Islamic centers that have acted as support networks for the jihad movement, officials say.

U.S. intelligence officials knew about Saudi Arabia's role in funding terrorism by 1996, yet for years Washington did almost nothing to stop it. Examining the Saudi role in terrorism, a senior intelligence analyst says, was "virtually taboo." Even after the embassy bombings in Africa, moves by counterterrorism officials to act against the Saudis were repeatedly rebuffed by senior staff at the State Department and elsewhere who felt that other foreign policy interests outweighed fighting terrorism.

THE MUSLIM MOSQUE: A STATE WITHIN A STATE
by Vijay Kumar
THE KAABA IN MECCA WAS NOT BUILT AS AN ISLAMIC MOSQUE. It was an ancient temple that had been shared by polytheists, Christians, Jews, and Hindus, honoring 360 different deities. In 630 A.D. the Kaaba was captured by Islam in its military invasion and conquest of Mecca.
On the day of its capture, Muhammad delivered an address at the Kaaba in military dress and helmet, according to Ayatullah Ja’far Subhani in his book, “The Message”:
“Bear in mind that every claim of privilege, whether that of blood or property is abolished . . . I reject all claims relating to life and property and all imaginary honors of the past, and declare them to be baseless . . . A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim and all the Muslims are brothers of one another and constitute one hand as against the non-Muslims. The blood of every one of them is equal to that of others and even the smallest among them can make a promise on behalf of others.” —Muhammad
Muhammad’s address at the Kaaba overthrew the Meccan government and declared all of Islam, anywhere in the world, to be a political and military state against all non-Muslims, regardless of the non-Muslims’ political, geographical, or national origins.
“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him.” —Quran 3:85
