We are one day away from the most important, the most crucial presidential election in the history of The United States of America. One day away from the most precipitous fork in the road Americans will ever face in their journey through life. Do we turn to the left and embrace the future as a Socialist nation like Cuba, Venezuela or Russia or do we turn to the right and embrace our heritage of freedom and indivisible liberty? What are the motivating factors that persuade our decisions? Are we a nation of people who want to shout "Give me more free stuff" and pay no attention to who has to pay for it? Are we a nation that willing bends down on one knee and praises our Creator for our unalienable, God-given rights or are we a nation that bends on both knees and begs government to give us those rights? Look back to the days when our great nation was conceived and founded and read the words set down for all the world to see forever when the Declaration of Independence was written.

236 years ago this document was addressed to the King of England as an indictment against his rule over the colonists but today it is very much applicable to the despotic Democrat who occupies The White House, Barack Hussein Obama and his army of bureaucrats, welfare recipients and union supporters.
Throughout the current political campaign these past few years two recurring elements have constantly appeared, over and over again. Unions mobilizing their forces to support Democrats in exchange for Democrats helping the unions. Welfare recipients clamoring for more free stuff, in exchange for Democrats coddling them with free cell phones, health care, food, clothing and housing. And, as if to put a point on all of these things, we have a hurricane disaster on the East Coast that seems to be highlighting everything wrong with the government. Just scanning through the news stories this morning and I came across a sampling that tell a lot about the problems in our country today. That led me to think of the title for this commentary: What do you call Democrats, Unions and Disasters. They mix so well together you can't tell them apart. Lets call them DUDs for short.
Generators, supplies sit unused after New York City marathon canceled
The city left more than a dozen generators desperately needed by cold and hungry New Yorkers who lost their homes to Hurricane Sandy still stranded in Central Park Sunday.
And that’s not all — stashed near the finish line of the canceled marathon were 20 heaters, tens of thousands of Mylar “space” blankets, jackets, 106 crates of apples and peanuts, at least 14 pallets of bottled water and 22 five-gallon jugs of water.
This while people who lost their homes in the Rockaways, Coney Island and Staten Island were freezing and going hungry. Michael Murphy, of Staten Island, who had no power and no heat, said yesterday, “We needed 100 percent of the resources here.”

Union Red Tape in N.J. Causes Alabama Recovery Crew to Head Home
Despite devastation and millions of power outages in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, a utility crew from Alabama said it has been unable to help a ravaged New Jersey shore town due to a union dispute.
Officials from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers presented Alabama-based Decatur Utilities with documents that “required our folks to affiliate with the union,” Ray Hardin, general manager of Decatur, told FOX Business on Friday. “That was something that we could not agree to. It was our understanding and still is that it was a requirement for us to work in that area.”
Hardin said most of his six-man, four-vehicle crew was stuck in Virginia on Thursday instead of helping the N.J. shore town of Seaside Heights recover due to the bureaucratic tie-up. Eventually his crew ended up heading back home to Alabama because of the disagreement.

The Obama-Panetta Doctrine. In response to the horrible abandonment of dying Americans in Benghazi, Defense Secretary Panetta said: “(The) basic principle is that you don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on; without having some real-time information about what’s taking place.”
To fully understand the doctrinal change, one has to understand President Obama. He has a dearth of understanding of our military and military matters. We hear he is uncomfortable in the presence of ranking military and seldom meets with them. He is not a person who can make decisions, and he takes an extraordinary amount of time to do so, leading to such unseemly labels for a commander in chief as “ditherer in chief.”
And Obama’s terror of risk contributed to the massacre of Americans by terrorists in Benghazi. We hear that the president did not even convene the Counterterrorism Security Group while the Benghazi terrorist massacre was visually and verbally available in real time. That is like ignoring FEMA during Hurricane Sandy. But once you bring in a group labeled anti-terrorist, you have to acknowledge terror exists, something the president is loath to do.
