The National Republican Senatorial Committee released a statement today that I think a majority of Americans will agree with, including me:

It’s no surprise that PolitiFact labeled President Obama’s promise that “if you like your plan, you can keep it” as their lie of the year. Countless times President Obama and Senate Democrats promised Americans something that they knew was blatantly false.

And this isn’t all. Obamacare was also sold on the promise that you can keep your doctor and that the law will make insurance more affordable. As premiums skyrocket and reports surface that millions will lose their doctor, it’s clear that Obamacare is nothing more than a slew of broken promises. And these broken promises are having serious consequences for millions of Americans across the country.

In an impressive display of chutzpah, the Tampa Bay Times' fact-checking organization PolitiFact has designated President Obama's promise that "If you like your health care plan, you can keep it" as their "Lie of the Year" for 2013 while simultaneously distancing itself from its own years-long record of failing to identify it as a lie.

You know you’ve thought about it but you’re afraid to talk about it in public, lest you’ll be called a ‘racist’ or an ‘Islamphobe.’ I say, so what?

Oneway2day  America has often and fruitlessly held forth the hand of friendship and equal freedom to Muslims abroad and here in the United States, but the greatest majority of Muslims (70%) reject equal liberty, equal justice and equal rights in favor of Islamic “fiqh” or Sharia law, and since before 1993 and the first attack on the World Trade Center, Muslims have significantly increased their Islam-inspired terror plots and attacks on U.S. soil.

First and second generation U.S. Muslims have turned against our nation, a fact many of us have known for years but one that the ‘Tennessean‘ and the ‘New York Times‘ seemingly just discovered last week. And, the Muslim Brothers continue to infiltrate the upper echelons of the U.S. government, while only a handful of our state and local leaders, Congressmen and Senators seem to have any real concern over the emerging islamoNazi threat to the United States.

Last week, Mr. Pete Doughtie, editor of ‘The Rutherford Reader’, called for Muslims to be deported from the U.S., especially members of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood (a large part of the Obama Regime). Mr. Doughtie fully understands the subversive tactics used by CAIR and the MB; his solution is both necessary and supported by the facts.

CAIR has a long history of associating with felons in terrorism probes, suspected terrorists and convicted terrorists. The list is long and includes Nihad Awad, CAIR’s director; Ghassan Eli, who was convicted in April of 2005 on charges of conspiracy to deal in the property of a specially designated terrorist; and Randall “Ismail” Royer of Virginia Jihad infamy, who was convicted of conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States and weapons violations.

Closer scrutiny of a few Muslim Brotherhood members, who follow the credo “Jihad is our way and death in the cause of Allah is our dream”, reveals a picture indicative of thousands of others operating within all levels of the U.S. government throughout America. Their views on Sharia Law and terrorism should have precluded any entry level position in the U.S. government.

Azizah al-Hibri was appointed by Obama to the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. She has stated that Islamic law, the harshest on earth, is more moral than the U.S. code of law, because it accepts “blood money” from murderers. She has also made appearances with a top Al Qaeda fundraiser, Abdurhaman Alamoudi, now serving 23 years in prison.

Rashad Hussain is the Special Envoy to the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He is held in high esteem by Sharia Law advocates, because he has memorized the Koran. And bear in mind, the OIC, headquartered in Jeddah-Saudi Arabia, is dedicated to spreading Sharia Law globally.

Obama’s “Sharia Czar” is Imam Mohammed Magid, and he is also the president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), a Muslim Brotherhood front organization. His father, Al-Haj Majd Haj Mosa, is a Cairo-trained MB scholar, and he was once the top cleric in the Republic of Sudan, one of the most Sharia compliant nations in the world.

After a wide-sweeping terror finance investigation in March 2002, Customs Agent David Kane testified that the All Dulles Muslim Society Center (ADAMS), led by Mohammed Magid, was being used to launder hundreds of thousands of dollars for the targeted finance network that shared offices with the ADAMS Center. Eleven ADAMS Center officials were also targets of this investigation.

Former Islamic Center of Murfreesboro (ICM) board member, Mossad Rawash, was a staunch supporter of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), much like Sami al-Arian. Arian was a tenured professor at the University of South Florida, until he was indicted on terror support charges after 9-11-01 and his leadership role in the PIJ was discovered.

On November 3, 2013, the ICM featured a roving board member of the ISNA, Jamal Badawi, who is also a terrorist supporter and an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation Conspiracy. Saleh Sbenaty, MTSU professor and ICM spokesperson, is a member of the MB. So…Yes! … The Federal Bureau of Investigation should be looking deep into the finances of the ICM.

On December 1, the ‘Tennessean‘ put forth a ridiculously low figure of “20 American citizens”, who have joined Islamic terrorist organizations in order to participate in the numerous wars across the Middle East and North Africa, which would only account for the young Somali-American men who went to Somalia last year to join al-Shabaab.

There are hundreds of well documented cases of American and European Muslims joining jihadist causes and “holy wars”, from the 1980s and Afghanistan up to this year in Mali. And just as battle-hardened jihadists returned from their “holy war” against the Soviets to fight in Serbia for a separate Islamic state, America can one day expect American Muslims returning from service in Al Qaeda, al-Shabaab, Islamic Jihad, the Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria to foment rebellion, increase their practice of terrorism on U.S. soil and attempt to establish a separate Islamic state within the United States.

And let us not forget the ordinary Muslims living in America, like Basit Sheikh, a legal resident of North Carolina, who was arrested last month by the FBI, as he attempted to leave for Lebanon in order to join Jabhat al-Nusrah, a terrorist organization. Do not forget the two Iraqi men living in public housing in Bowling Green, KY since 2009, who were discovered to be Iraqi Al Qaeda terrorists with the blood of U.S. soldiers on their hands.

Pete Doughtie is in good company, since journalist Andy McCarthy and Frank Gaffney, ex-deputy assistant Defense Secretary, have both called for precluding Muslims from Muslim majority nations and “sharia-adherent Muslims” from the U.S., just as we banned advocates for communism after WWII. After the Boston Marathon Bombing, Laura Ingraham, Fox Newscontributor, called for a ban on Muslim immigration, and several U.S. Senators, such as Rand Paul, suggested much the same.

“Who will stand up”, asked Mr. Doughtie.

We all should be standing shoulder to shoulder in a movement to deport all Muslims not holding U.S. citizenship, much as I have advocated since 1993. Some of us should even be considering running for local, state and federal offices, in order to enforce Article I – Section 8 power “to establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization”, in agreement with past Supreme Court affirmations that Congress and the American people have the “power to make rules for the admission of aliens and to exclude those who possess those characteristics which Congress has forbidden”.

Moreover, Muslims can be stripped of their U.S. citizenship and deported, if they have actively fought and taken up arms against the U.S., according to many legal/Constitution experts: All those now standing and advocating for the deportation of Muslims, especially CAIR and MB members, understand that protecting U.S. interests and American citizens and maintaining American sovereignty, independence and freedom of action must be the primary, overriding concern of our nation and its leaders.

Two headline stories from the Australian web site Winds of Jihad make scary reading. Just as certain businesses in America found it profitable to have unlimited cheap labor so they encouraged illegal immigrants to flock over our Southern borders, Europe has also found itself in the same situation. The big difference is the flood of Hispanic people from Mexico and Central America generally share our American religious beliefs but in Europe the only source of cheap labor comes from the Islamic populations of North Africa and the Middle East. Two cultures that are diametrically opposed to each other and unable to coexist. Two cultures that have been at war with each since the time of The Crusades. Because of this there is constant eternal friction and conflict and in the end only one will survive. Now they are beginning to pay for it.

Augsburg: “Allahu akbar”-Graffiti on Churches

 

On the night to Thursday, the Arabic words “Allahu Akbar” were painted on the portals of several churches in the city centre of Augsburg. According to local police, the Cathedral, the Church of St. Maurice and the Protestant Ullrich Church are affected. At the Cathedral both the north and the south portals were painted with white letters. Hard to imagine a mosque would have been affected. Claudia Roth (Member of Parliament for the Green Party) probably would have organized a candlelight vigil in her hometown because of an “Islamophobic attack” and would have called for an alliance against fascism. However, it were churches, and thus, that “little night time graffiti prank” is only worth small footnotes in the newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine (with photos) and the broadcasting centre BR and will soon be forgotten.

After a wave vandalism in France that saw several cathedrals vandalized with Islamic graffiti, last month in France two Islamic mosques were painted with graffiti calling for the expulsion of Muslims from France. Reported on Bare Naked Islam on November 5, 2013:

Reports that two mosques at Besançon in eastern France have allegedly been desecrated with racist and fascist graffiti. What say our French BNI readers?

La Dépêche via IWUK Three swastikas, accompanied by the slogans “France for the French”, “Vive la France”, “Arabs out” and “death to Muslims” were sprayed on the Al-Fath mosque. A swastika and the words “Long live the FN” (Front National) were also found on the wall of the Souna mosque.

This is not the first time the mosques have been attacked. In August, an SS sign, a Celtic cross an Odal rune and the words “Vive la France” were sprayed on the Souna mosque. In February, Star of David graffiti was daubed on both the Souna and Al-Fath mosques.

The world mourns the passing of Nelson Mandela, but Satan welcomed him in Hell last week. Were it not for patriots who reminded us of Mandela's true past history many of us would be shedding a tear this week. The American Free Press reports that at the trial of Mandela and the 19 other members of the terrorist group he founded, with whom he was captured (half of whom were white communist Jews), the prosecutor said that the munitions they possessed were “sufficient to blow up a city the size of Johannesburg.”

Nelson Mandela’s wife, Winnie, earned infamy for herself for her urging followers to engage in the “necklacing” of political opponents–a tire is placed around the bound victim’s neck, doused in gasoline, and set on fire.  Thousands and thousands of people in South Africa have been murdered in this way.

Multiple sources report that Winnie publicly taunted her foes by shaking a box of matches in her hand, proclaiming, “We may not prevail at the ballot box, but we will win with the matchbox.”

Even the later version of Nelson Mandela, the exalted, supposedly peace-loving statesman that the Western white liberal media turned him into, openly sang and danced to popular songs calling for the killing of all white people in South Africa.  It’s on video.The heinous genocide being carried out against whites in South Africa and Zimbabwe in recent decades, along with South Africa’s horrific, runaway violent crime spiral, is well-known to those who follow such things.The American Free Press puts the number of whites murdered by blacks in South Africa at 68,000 since 1994, when Nelson Mandela became president.

The great influence behind the liberal news media has always been the world-wide communist movement and it was from them that Nelson Mandela had his past rewritten. From Hollywood leftists who popularized him in the film Invictus to Bill Cosby who chaired the "Unlock Apartheid's Jails" campaign. Hundreds of stories glared from the front pages of our national press along the same lines that ran in the 1950s when the liberals were writing about Communist Fidel Castro being the Robin Hood of the Sierra Madres before he took over Cuba and admitted he had always been a Communist. The BBC published a story on December 6th, Mandela death: How a prisoner became a legend  that described the extent of the Mandela mania going on in Great Britain.

In the UK, the local anti-apartheid movement hosted an annual Bicycle for Mandela event. In the Netherlands, they issued a Mandela coin in opposition to the Krugerrands. In the US, the committee launched an "Unlock Apartheid's Jails" campaign, under the chairmanship of actor Bill Cosby.

So successful had the global Free Mandela campaign become that in 1978, the prime minister of apartheid South Africa, John Vorster, bemoaned the fact that the world was seeing Mandela as the "real" leader of black South Africa.

 By the mid-80s musicians such as Bruce Springsteen and Miles Davis were sprinkling some stardust on the anti-apartheid movement. The song Free Nelson Mandela became a Top 10 hit in Britain.

After the job they did remaking Nelson Mandela  from a communist terrorist into a saint, the pro-communist mainstream news media work that transformed Barack Hussein Obama into a halo-crowned messiah figure must have been a piece of cake. If and when patriots get around to that Second American Revolution thing they've been talking about, those editors and publishers of the leftist mainstream news media may find themselves one of the early targets.

Calls to impeach a sitting POTUS should never be wielded as a political weapon. Concomitantly, neither should demands for his AG’s impeachment be utilized as a tool to trifle with. For if there is no there there, then the only losers are the American people and the winners are partisan hacks. Besides, serious times call for serious measures, devoid of malice aforethought. 

NONETHELESS, there are few more “deserving” within Obama Inc. than AG Holder, to be the recipient of  articles of impeachment. Yes, there are countless others of equal (dis)repute within Obama’s regime gone wild, but first things first.

How so? Well, if the basis therein is to hold to account those who break the laws of the land with impunity, endanger national security within the confines of “legal” cover, then there is no more worthy address than that of the top law enforcement official of the land, AG Holder!
Where to begin…his crimes are so vast and multifaceted…but at the beginning:  

Indictment Number 1 -  When does a pile up of dead bodies NOT lead to criminal indictments? HINT: When perpetrated by the Obama regime.   

Indictment Number 2 - And when the arm which collects taxpayer funds to the point of nothing short of highway robbery in broad daylight – to fund their socialist schemes, then turns around and gains “legal” imprimatur – know that the AG is deeply in the mix. As such, how scary is it to hear that IRS enforcement agents will be armed with SHOTGUNS (hidden within Obamacare dictates), as law abiding citizens are disarmed, under the pretext of tax collection! Wondering, where is this truly headed?

Indictment Number 3 -  Does anyone recall FAST & FURIOUS, even though it has been purposefully pushed out of the spotlight (but peeking back in)? In so far as justice is concerned, the above weapons running across U.S./Mexico’s borders is responsible for killing American agents, plus scores of Mexicans. It was cooked up in AG Holder’s domain, its end goal – gun control! Will Holder pay the price? Time will tell.  

Indictment Number 4 -  Adding to the indictment, how much clearer can it get that the Racialist-in-Chief, in cahoots with his Lawbreaker-in-Chief, is stoking the racial fires? As a result, ‘Justice’ For ‘Tray’ was extracted and whites were/are beaten to a pulp. Yet, Obama’s goons/media remain stone cold silent. Will Obama Inc., chiefly his AG, get a free pass? Absolutely, if not for their tag team incitement over “Tray”, their winks and their nods (oh yeah, as the POTUS stirred the fires, remarking that “Tray” could have been his son), their youthful, energy-laden, chip-on-their shoulders “homies” would not be running wild, reminiscent of darker times during America’s racially-charged 60′s. My oh my, Black youths gone wild has a new moniker, an edgy twist: the knockout “game“…see this video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3J56g28YUo4 !! Damn them all.  

Indictment Number 5 - Trying to keep up with their crimes is exhausting, and we haven’t even touched upon Benghazigate, a crime which surely elicited requisite cover from the chief law officer in the land: the nexus between cover ups: Benghazigate mirror image of Fast & Furious!  

Indictment Number 6 -  And what’s up with a chief employee from the Dept. of Homeland (in)Security inciting to a race war, without even being fired for it? DHS (Black) employee, in charge of PROCURING weaponry, caught inciting a race war! What’s going on?   

Indictment Number 7 - Alas, the laundry list of his indictable crimes continues apace…AG Holder is deeply in sync with criminalizing any exposure of Islamic designs on America and the west, thus obviating freedom of speech! Believe it. ALERT: Radical-in-Chief Obama Tasks (il)Legally-Bent (AG) Holder To “Criminalize” Islamic Speech Via Thuggish UN Dictates…Holder’s DOJ, As If On Cue, Bellies Up To Invoke Islamic “Blasphemy” Laws In The USA!   

Indictment Number 8 -  In light of the above, how unexpected is it to find out that a radical, racialist, Islamist apologist DOJ imposes a mega-mosque on a U.S. community? Shocking it ain’t.

Indictment Number 9 - But just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, take note of how U.S. soldiers are denied due process under the aegis of AG Holder’s anti-American cabal: American warriors DENIED legal counsel/due process: not so for “Soldiers for Allah”, courtesy of taxpayers! How can this be?   

DUE to all of the above, and so much more, how far fetched is the demand for Holder’s impeachment?

Where do I begin, do I write about Barack Hussein Obama or his other name Barry Soetoro, the name he got from his step-father in Indonesia. So much about Barack Hussein Obama is known to be a lie that some, including myself, have said he was more like The Man Who Never Was. For example, in 1991 Barack Obama's then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, distributed a 36-page promotional booklet about their clients that contains a biography on Barack Hussein Obama which states that Obama as "born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii." This booklet remained in circulation until someone discovered it in 2007 and then claimed it was written in error without anyone asking him. This is a similar response we read today about Barack Hussein Obama denying he ever met his uncle Onyango Obama who was living in America illegally. USAToday writes:

Two years after saying President Obama had not met an uncle who faced deportation, the White House said Thursday that Obama lived briefly with him back in the 1980s.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said that Obama met Onyango Obama when he arrived in Cambridge, Mass., in the late 1980s to attend Harvard Law School; Obama stayed briefly with his uncle until his new apartment was ready.

Carney said the White House staff based its 2011 claim that the two had never met on a review of the documentary record — including Obama's memoir — and had not asked the president himself.

The text of Obama's biography from the literary agency Acton & Dystel, reads:

Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.  The son of an American anthropologist and a Kenyan finance minister, he attended Columbia University and worked as a financial journalist and editor for Business International Corporation.   He served as project coordinator in Harlem for the New York Public Interest Research Group, and was Executive Director of the Developing Communities Project in Chicago’s South Side. His commitment to social and racial issues will be evident in his first book, Journeys in Black and White.

This information directly clashes with Obama's own, so-called autobiography Dreams From My Father, which we later learned was ghost written by Obama friend and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. It also clashed with the U.S. Constitution which states that only a person born in America can be president. So how can anyone begin to write the truth about a living fictional character? Truly, Barack Hussein Obama is "A Riddle Wrapped in a Mystery Inside an Enigma". In the end he should be removed from the White House, in handcuffs, and charged with the crimes of treason. He should not be impeached because that would leave all of his changes in place. He should be proven to be an illegal fraud and every piece of legislation he ever signed, every appointment he ever approved, every treaty he ever signed should become Null and Void.

1979 to 1981 Barack Hussein Obama attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, but later on decided to have all college records sealed. He left the school in his Junior year to move to New York City.

1981-1983 Barack Hussein Obama attended Columbia College in New York City, graduating in 1983 with a degree in Political Science yet no one in his graduating class ever remembered him being there.

1987 Obama met Trinity United Church of Christ pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright who ran a program called the Down Low to integrate homosexual men into normal society. Obama was widely known in Chicago's gay bath house crowd.

1989 Obama returns to Chicago and met Michelle Robinson when he was employed as a summer associate for three months at the Chicago law firm of Sidley Austin in October 1987, and became a member of  Rev. Wright's Trinity Church in 1992. Later on Rev. Wright admits he never believed Obama abandoned his Muslim beliefs and became a Christian.

Obama spends over 20 years attending Rev. Jeremiah Wright's racist black church yet he says he never heard Rev. Wright give a hate sermon against White people or use the term God Damn America.

1992-2004 Barack Hussein Obama taught constitutional law part-time at the University of Chicago Law School. He listed his employment as a Professor when he was actually just a lecturer but more importantly, the University later acknowledge they refused to hire him until someone told them to do so.

1997 to 2004 He served three terms representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate. He won his first election after successfully challenging the nominating petitions of four other Democrats eliminating them from the ballot leaving him unopposed. He later ran unsuccessfully for the United States House of Representatives in 2000. During his seven years in the Illinois legislature he created an astounding record by voting "Present" over 100 times.

2004 In spite of his lackluster record of achievement in the Illinois Senate someone decided to select him to give a keynote speech on primetime television during the Democratic National Convention in July. This same year he was elected to the U.S. Senate after his campaign staff got hold of sealed divorce records of popular Illinois Republican Jack Ryan, husband of actress Jerri Ryan which forced him to drop out of the campaign only months before the election.

2007 Obama began his presidential campaign after only 2 years in the U.S. Senate. During the Republican primary, Obama's staunch supporters in the leftist news media lauded the accomplishments of Senator John McCain, helping him win the GOP nomination. McCain had always been considered the weakest and most unpopular Republican and was easily defeated by Barack Hussein Obama. During the presidential campaign Obama declares his support for the Second Amendment rights of gun owners.

2009 Obama continues his history of lies by taking the oath to support and defend the Constitution. Later on, before a national television audience he displays a fraudulent copy of his birth certificate. Still later, after much doubt is raised, Obama releases a copy of the long form version of the birth certificate that is proven by experts to be a forgery.

2010 with the war against Muslim extremists raging in Iraq and Afghanistan Barack Hussein Obama institutes changes to the Armed Forces Rules of Engagement to prohibit troops on patrol from carrying loaded weapons, or to return fire when being fired upon from mosques or hospitals, the favorite places of concealment used by the enemy. It becomes obvious that devout Muslims who follow Islam consider it against their religion to aid in the killing of other Muslims.

2011 Obama's Dept. of Justice ramps up Operation Fast and Furious allowing Mexican drug cartels to purchase guns in the United States and smuggle them into Mexico to further their crime wave. The expected fallout was to create a clamor for more gun control but it backfired when the scheme leaked out.

With strong hints of impending Martial Law and the possibility of U.S. troops combating American citizens on U.S. soil, Obama's Defense Dept. begins a purge against high ranking military officers who refuse to shoot Americans. To date over 190 officers and generals have been forced to resign or retire.

On May 2, 2011, a Special Operations team called Seal Team Six conducted a secret raid inside Pakistan and killed Osama bin Laden, the founder and head of the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda. Three months later, on August 6, 2011, 15 members of the Seal Team Six unit that killed bin Laden were themselves killed when an undefended Chinook helicopter was shot down at night by a Taliban-fired rocket-propelled grenade in Maidan Wardak province, Afghanistan. The choice of the outdated, unarmed and over-loaded Chinook helicopter and the leaked plans for their night flight route leading up to a trap that resulted in 38 soldiers on board being killed has been viewed by many as payback for the death of Osama bin Laden. But who was doing the payback isn't clear. During the 2012 presidential campaign Barack Hussein Obama boasted of his involvement in the death of Osama bin Laden, the perpetrator of the September 11, 2001 Muslim hijacking attacks on America. Even though there were strong rumors that Obama had little to do with the operation planning or execution of the raid in Abbottabad, Pakistani, there was suggestions he allowed the Seal Team Six to be set up afterward.

2012 Obama's Dept. of Defense begins waging war against Christians in the military and threatens Court Martial against Chaplains who preach their faith.

2013 Obama's previous statements about his Socialized Medicine plan called ObamaCare, offically named the Affordable Care Act, have come to haunt him after millions of Americans were notified that their existing health plans are being cancelled. Coincidentally, during the 2012 presidential campaign Obama boasted of this plan and adopted the unoffical term ObamaCare but in the wake of the disastrous roll out the White House stopped using the unofficial name.

There have been so many lies told by Barack Hussein Obama that it impossible to write about most of them. Some political observer commented that you can always tell when Obama lies when ever he opens his mouth. Jeff Cohen, author and media critic, writing on the liberal Huffington Post asks the question: "How Do You Know When President Obama Is Lying?"

    I was a young person when I first heard the quip: "How do you know when the President is lying? His lips are moving." At the time, President Nixon was expanding the war in Vietnam to other countries and deploying the  White House "plumbers" to commit crimes against antiwar leakers.

    Forty years have passed. Sadly, these days, often when I see President Obama moving his lips, I assume he's lying.

So do most of us.

Citizen Gun Owners – First Responders in Kenya

When two teams of cowardly Muslim extremist terrorists stormed the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya last month, police and government forces were slow to respond, but local gun owners were not.  Kenya has very strict gun laws, banning most semi-auto rifles, and tightly restricting possession of handguns, but, like New York City, those with the right connections, enough money, and who are persistent enough, can own, and even carry, personal defense handguns.  One such concealed carry license holder was standing in line at a bank in the mall when the shooting started.  A New York Times story from September 26 reported that the man, identified as Raju, immediately sent out an urgent text message to friends in his shooting club.  The story then says that shooting club members, neighborhood watch volunteers (like George Zimmerman?), and “plainclothes police officers” rushed to the mall and gave the terrorists something to worry about while they helped people trying to get out of the besieged buildings.  

While the Times story focused primarily on the delayed response of the police and military, the fact that it even mentioned armed civilians as first responders is pretty shocking to those of us in the rights movement who have suffered the slings and arrows of the Times’ anti-gun bias for decades.  For them to even mention Raju and his friends from the gun club is pretty significant, though we assume it was an aberration and don’t expect any shift in the Times’ position on guns and the right to arms.  Apparently the Times thinks private gun owners in Kenya are somehow more responsible than private gun owners in the US though.

 It should be noted that the Westgate mall in Nairobi is not a posted “No Guns” zone.  Few people in the country have the legal right to carry personal defense firearms, the whole country is considered a “gun free zone” with exceptions made for those authorized by the government.  Here in the US, where millions of people exercise their right to carry personal defense firearms, criminals and lunatics bent on killing as many people as possible almost always choose a location that forbids legal, civilian firearms.  The deranged punk who attacked the audience of the Batman movie in Colorado, for instance, passed by two other, larger theaters, to get to the theater where he carried out his attack.  The difference was that the other theaters were not posted.  Why would he do that unless he was hoping to reduce the chances of running into armed resistance inside the theater?  An exception to that rule was the attack at the Gabby Giffords meet and greet, which occurred in a grocery store parking lot in Tucson.  In that atrocity, one of the civilian first responders who helped to subdue the attacker was carrying a gun, but he arrived a few seconds too late to need to use it.  Had one of the victims not interfered with the mad man’s reload, that armed citizen – who, like the gun owners in Kenya had rushed to the sound of the gunfire – would have been the only thing standing between the people in that parking lot and at least another 15 rounds of 9mm.

The Times didn’t include any photos of Raju and his gun club compatriots, but a Reuters photo from inside the mall caught the particular attention of the shooting fraternity.  The photo shows several men in civilian clothes, carrying handguns, and moving tactically through the mall.  What really caught our attention was that one of those men was wearing a vest that bore the familiar logo of the International Defensive Pistol Association, or IDPA.

IDPA is a competitive shooting organization similar to the US Practical Shooting Association, or USPSA.  My brother and I belong to USPSA and write a regular column for their magazine, Front Sight.  Both organizations are focused on competitive, action-style shooting, what some used to call combat shooting, which involves engaging multiple targets with pistol, rifle, or shotgun in a timed course.  Scenarios and courses vary from competition to competition and can be very challenging.  The fast pace and excitement of the sport has made it one of the fastest-growing shooting sports in the country – rivaled only by Cowboy Action Shooting sanctioned by the Single Action Shooters Society (SASS).  Cowboy Action is basically the same sport only using pre-1900-style firearms and having competitors dressed up in classic western garb.  Anyone not familiar with these sports should do a search on YouTube for IDPA, USPSA, and SASS.  You’ll be amazed.

The practical aspects of these types of competition can come into play in a situation like the assault on Westgate mall.  Shooters who regularly compete in these sports know how to move safely with gun in hand, use cover, clear corners, and fire with speed and accuracy.  More importantly, they have practiced distinguishing between targets and “No-Shoots” representing bystanders and hostages – the courses routinely include such distinctions.  Action shooters have also practiced shooting from a variety of different positions and at targets of varying distances.  At this point it is unclear whether any of the gun club members actively engaged any of the terrorists, nor do we expect to hear such details from the Times.  What is clear is that these club shooters were willing to risk their own lives to help their fellow citizens – of every race and creed – and they did it with no reports of any of them accidentally shooting an innocent or being shot themselves by government troops or police.  

Opponents of armed resistance say that “more guns in a situation like that is just a recipe for disaster,” but as has been repeatedly proven, it is not the presence of defensive firearms, but their absence that increases death tolls.  This case again proves the point.  The presence of these armed civilians during the Westgate mall attack undoubtedly saved many lives.
