Whose side is our Defense Department on, anyway?

   

We all remember the popular television show JAG (1995-2005) that had stories of diligent military lawyers who investigated and litigated crimes committed by Navy and Marine Corps personnel. Their fairness and objectivity were the hallmark of military justice. Welcome to the real world where today lawyers for the Department of Defense are prosecuting members of the Armed Forces fighting a despicable and treacherous fanatical enemy in Iraq and Afghanistan. I posted a story a few days ago about three Navy SEALS who were sent to capture Ahmed Hashim Abed the alleged mastermind behind the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. Ahmed Hashim Abed told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it so our diligent Defense Department JAG lawyers are going to Court Martial the Navy SEALS on multiple charges.

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

Now comes another story about a greater miscarriage of military justice. It is the case of lst Lt Michael Behenna, who was convicted at a Court Martial and is serving 20 years at Leavenworth for defending himself!!!

Here is an excerpt from an email sent by Beverly Perlson from the organization The Band of Mothers:

In the case of lst Lt Michael Behenna, who was convicted at a Court Martial for DEFENDING himself against a known terrorist, Ali Mansur, not all the evidence was presented at his trial. The prosecution had a world renowned forensic expert, Dr. MacDonnel, as their witness. However, when the doctor heard Michael's testimony at trial as to what happened, he told the prosecutors Michael was telling the truth based on his examination of the forensic evidence, and that Michael did indeed DEFEND himself against this "KNOWN" terrorist, Ali Mansur, he did not commit pre-mediated murder. What is horrendous is that the prosecution sent Dr. MacDonnell home that day and would not call him as a witness.

This is so terribly wrong as the doctor's testimony would have exonerated Michael  and today he would be at home with his family instead of sitting in Leavenworth, where he has just begun his eighth month of incarceration!  Further, at trial, the judge gave instruction to the jury before deliberations that since Michael had his gun drawn on the "KNOWN" terrorist Ali Mansur, that could be seen as provoking the attack by Mansur!  

As the mother of a Son who served 4 deployments with the 82nd Airborne, that instruction to the jury has frightening implications for our military Heroes.  In other words, if holding a gun on a terrorist in this war means you are provoking an attack by the terrorists, it looks like the Army will fill Leavenworth to the brim with military Heroes who, according to the judge in Michael's trial, do not have the inherent right to defend themselves from terrorists!  Ali Mansur was a known Al Qaeda member.  He had already planted an IED on a roadside and Michael and his men had had been instructed by intelligence to take another route!  Further, Michael had lost two of his men weeks before due to the actions of Ali Mansur and  this Al Qaeda cell!!!

What has happened to lst Lt Michael Behenna is an outrage!   We are affording rights to terrorists and denying our brave men and women the right to defend themselves.  Michael Behenna's mother and myself spent the last two days in DC meeting with Congress and Senate officers and they have expressed to us their concern in this matter also.  I'd like to especially thank Congressman Steve King, who not only offered to  write a letter to the clemency board, but who also will request Michael be released to his family while clemency hearing/appeals take place.  Obviously, the Army does not feel Michael is a threat as Mike was given a presidential detail in the interim before he was formally charged!

Michael Behenna is a Hero who killed a terrorist!  If he was serving during World War II, he would have come home to a ticker tape parade and medals for killing the enemy. Now, in this politically correct war we are fighting, the Army has turned their back on this Hero and sentenced him to 20 years in prison!   God help our military and shame on the Army!  Please write the Secretary of the Army and ask him to afford Michael the inherent right to defend himself against a known terrorist, and let this brave young man go home to his family.

Six Important Facts About the Assault Charges Three Navy SEALS Face for Doing Their Jobs

In recent years, I’ve published too many posts about members of the Armed Forces facing undeserved charges:

    * First, it was the so-called “Haditha Marines” who faced trumped-up charges, thanks largely to idiots like Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) declaring them guilty before a mainstream media eager to paint them in a bad light.

    * Next, it was Army Ranger 1st Lt. Michael Behenna who was wrongly convicted of executing an Iraqi detainee, Ali Mansur, on May 16, 2008, and is now serving a 25-year sentence at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

    * Now, I’m following the case of three Navy SEALs facing assault charges related to their capture of Ahmed Hashim Abed.  Who is Abed?  He’s the alleged planner of the March 2004 ambush, killing and mutilation of four Blackwater contractors in Fallujah, Iraq.  The SEALS gave this enemy combatant piece of dirt a fat lip while apprehending him.

As my first investigative reporting effort related to the SEALs’ case, I offer six important facts about the case you’re likely not to read about in the mainstream media supplied to me by a source whom I cannot name inside the Pentagon:

1) The charges or accusations against the three Navy SEALs were not made from within the SEAL community.  Sources tell me they came from someone within the Navy’s Master-at-Arm community.

2) The SEALs were presented with the option of going to Captain’s Mast for these charges but declined this form of non-judicial punishment and opted for court-martial instead.  Why?  Because they did not want to be judged by those outside of the SEAL community and believed the court-martial route would assure them the representation necessary to prove their innocence.

3) At no time did anyone within the Naval Special Warfare community have any control over these accusations or events other than providing advice or guidance to the accused SEALs.

4) The integrity of the chain of custody of the prisoner is at question.

5) There are extenuating circumstances that indicate there is questionable evidence in some of the accusations made.

6) Evidence will come out in a court-martial that might not have come out in a Captain’s Mast in favor of the accused SEALs.

Do you remember the headlines? It was 2004: Fallujah, Iraq. Four civilian U.S. contractors were transporting supplies for a catering company. They were ambushed, killed, their bodies burned and dragged through the streets, then hung from a bridge on the Euphrates River. A NAVY SEAL TEAM was sent after and captured one of the military’s “most wanted” terrorists, the one responsible for the heinous crime. Now 4 of our bravest and finest are facing prosecution because the scumbag terrorist claimed he got a bloody lip while in their custody.

NORTH CAROLINA: Hezbollah Terror Cell, said to be more dangerous than al Qaeda, is STILL in operation in Charlotte even though it was first discovered in 2002.

Mohammed Hamoud and his brother were convicted in Charlotte of smuggling cigarettes and funneling the money to Hezbollah. Prosecutors said they were the head of a secret Hezbollah cell. Ken Bell got thirteen guilty pleas, three convictions, and one deportation in the cigarette case. Still the FBI believes Hezbollah has not left Charlotte.

PENNSYLVANIA: FBI videos show Fort Dix terrorists training in the Poconos, but lawyers for the defendants said they were not planning anything.

No, of course they weren’t planning anything, they were just nice Muslim boys enjoying the fresh mountain air, while firing guns and shouting “Allah akbar.” Federal officials  released dozens of video and audio tapes from the terrorism trial of five men accused of planning an attack on the Fort Dix Army training base in New Jersey. Prosecutors said during opening statements that the men were inspired by al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden.
The tapes show some of the defendants training with automatic weapons at a firing range in the Poconos Mountains in Pennsylvania. Others are downloads and tapes seized from the suspects’ homes that show the killing of American troops in Iraq.

Larimer County, Colorafo Sheriff Jim Alderden joked about a bumper sticker which read, “U.S. Marines: Travel agents to Allah.”

(Hey, that’s not a joke, that’s the truth!)

A volunteer for the nonprofit Muslims Against Hunger group is not upset Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden plans to hold a Christmas tree-trimming party – an event Alderden proudly calls politically incorrect. (This IS a Christian country, you fool)

But the woman, a Muslim who lives in Northern Colorado, is concerned about a comment Alderden made while giving a speech at a Marine Corps Ball last month. The sheriff briefly posted a transcript of the speech on his Web site. In the speech, Alderden joked about bumper stickers and highlighted one which read, “U.S. Marines: Travel agents to Allah.”

The speech has been removed from the sheriff’s Web site, and he declined to comment about the speech. 9NEWS also asked a dozen former Marines who heard his speech for their thoughts. None of them wanted to be quoted. (Heh)

The woman, whose name is not being published because she has received threats, said an elected official jesting about the killing of Muslims goes beyond politically incorrect. ”Anytime you put someone down, whether it’s for religion or race or anything, it doesn’t just hurt the individual, it actually hurts the community where we live, and it’s really not time to start doing things like this,” she said. (Don’ let the door hit you in the ass, bitch)

The Muslim-American community contributes much to society, she said. (NO they don’t) Cases like that of Nidal Malik Hasan, the man accused of shooting fellow soldiers at Fort Hood, are the exception rather than the rule, she said.”We can’t let our religion be hijacked by extremists,” she said. Somebody at Fort Hood Should Be Walking the Plank   [Andy McCarthy]

Prepare to be infuriated.

It's been brought to my attention by several reliable sources that the Defense Department has brought Louay Safi to Fort Hood as an instructor, and that he has been lecturing on Islam to our troops in Fort Hood who are about to deploy to Afghanistan. Safi is a top official of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), and served as research director at the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

Worse, last evening, Safi was apparently permitted to present a check (evidently on behalf of ISNA) to the families of the victims of last month's Fort Hood massacre. A military source told the blogger Barbarossa at the Jawa Report: "This is nothing short of blood money. This is criminal and the Ft. Hood base commander should be fired right now."

ISNA was identified by the Justice Department at the Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing conspiracy trial as an unindicted co-conspirator. The defendants at that trial were convicted of funding Hamas to the tune of millions of dollars. This should have come as no surprise. ISNA is the Muslim Brotherhood's umbrella entity for Islamist organizations in the United States. It was established in 1981 to enable Muslims in North America "to adopt Islam as a complete way of life" — i.e., to further the Brotherhood's strategy of establishing enclaves in the West that are governed by sharia. As I detailed in an essay for the April 20 edition of NR, the Brotherhood's rally-cry remains, to this day, "Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.” The Brotherhood's spiritual guide, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who issued a fatwa in 2004 calling for attacks on American forces in Afghanistan, openly declares that Islam will "conquer America" and "conquer Europe."

Also established in 1981, the IIIT is a Saudi funded think-tank dedicated, it says, to the "Islamicization of knowledge" — which, Zeyno Baran (in Volume 6 of the Hudson Institute's excellent series, "Current Trends in Islamist Ideology") has aptly observed, "could be a euphemism for the rewriting of history to support Islamist narratives." Years ago, the Saudis convinced the United States that the IIIT should be the military's go-to authority on Islam. One result was the placement of Abdurrahman Alamoudi to select Muslim chaplains for the armed forces. Alamoudi has since been convicted of terrorism and sentenced to 23 years in federal prison.

As noted in this 2003 Frontpage report, 2002 search warrant links Safi to an entity called the "Safa Group." The Safa Group has never been charged with a crime, but the affidavit allegest its involvement in moving large sums of money to terrorist fronts. Safi was also caught on an FBI wiretap of Sami al-Arian, a former leader in the murderous Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). The year was 1995, and the topic of the discussion between Safi and al-Arian was Safi's concern that President Clinton's executive order prohibiting financial transactions with terrorist organizations would negatively affect al-Arian. More recently, al-Arian has been convicted of conspiring to provide material support to terrorism.

At Human Events a couple of months back, Rowan Scarborough had a disturbing report about the FBI's "partnering" efforts with Islamist groups — including the very same ISNA that the Justice Department had cited as an unindicted co-conspirator in the terrorism financing conspiracy. A prominent figure in the report was Louay Jafi:

Safi is a Syrian-born author who advocates Muslim American rights through his directorship of ISNA's Leadership Development Center. He advocates direct talks between Washington and Iran's leaders. He has spoken out against various law enforcement raids on Islamic centers.

In a 2003 publication, "Peace and the Limits of War," Safi wrote, "The war against the apostates [non-believers of Islam] is carried out not to force them to accept Islam, but to enforce the Islamic law and maintain order."

He also wrote, "It is up to the Muslim leadership to assess the situation and weigh the circumstances as well as the capacity of the Muslim community before deciding the appropriate type of jihad. At one stage, Muslims may find that jihad, through persuasion or peaceful resistance, is the best and most effective method to achieve just peace." [ACM: Implicitly, this concedes there is a time for violent jihad, too.]

At ISNA's annual convention in Washington in July, one speaker, Imam Warith Deen Umar, criticized Obama for having two Jewish people — Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod — in the White House. "Why do this small number of people have control of the world?" he said, according to a IPT transcript. He said the Holocast was punishment for Jews "because they were serially disobedient to Allah."

[Steven] Emerson's group [the Investigative Project on Terrorism] collected literature at the convention approved for distribution by ISNA. It said the pamphlets and books featured "numerous attempts to portray U.S. prosecution of terrorists and terror supporters as anti-Muslim bigotry; dramatic revisionist history that denied attacks by Arab nations and Palestinian terrorists against Israel; anti-Semitic tracts and hyperbolic rants about a genocide and holocaust of Palestinians."

Asked if the FBI should sever ties with ISNA, Emerson said, "ISNA is an unindicted co-conspirator. It's a Muslim Brotherhood group. I think in terms of legitimacy there should be certain expectations of what the group says publicly. If it continues to espouse jihad and anti-Semitism, I think it nullifies it right to have the FBI recognize it."

What on earth is this government doing, and will Congress please do something about it?

Newt Gingrich hasn't a clue about Obama's West Point speech

   

First of all, let me say that I think Newt Gingrich is an intellectual snob. Mr. Gingrich may be a Republican but after he publicly endorsed Dede Scozzafava, the hand-picked ultra-liberal Republican candidate in the hotly contested 23rd Congressional District race in New York, only to have her drop out and throw her support for the Democrat, Gingrich revealed the true expanse of his intelligence. For those who missed Gingrich's reasoning he claimed that Dede Scozzafava represented the diversity the Republican Party needed. The same call for "diversity" was used by Gen. George Casey to justify Muslims in our military after a Muslim terrorist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, massacred 13 soldiers in Fort hood while screaming the Muslim war cry, "Allahu Akbar, Allah is great" as he shot the unarmed soldiers. "Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse," Casey added on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Anyone who supports a RINO, a Republican In Name Only, as Mr. Gingrich did, be it in the name of diversity or anything else must share the same DNA. So now we read in today's Cincinnati Enquirer headline story that Mr. Gingrich has praise for Barack Hussein Obama's plan for Afghanistan.

As far as Obama's West Point speech on his plans for Afghanistan, no one summed up the substance of the issue better than Gabor Steingart writing in the German newspaper Der Spiegel.

"One didn't have to be a cadet on Tuesday to feel a bit of nausea upon hearing Obama's speech," wrote Steingart. "It was the least truthful address that" that this American president "has ever" delivered.

Steingart continues, [Mr. Obama] spoke of responsibility, but almost every sentence smelled of party tactics. He demanded sacrifice, but he was unable to say what it was for exactly.

An additional 30,000 US soldiers are to march into Afghanistan -- and then they will march right back out again. America is going to war -- and from there it will continue ahead to peace. It was the speech of a Nobel War Prize laureate.

Just in Time for the Campaign

For each troop movement, Obama had a number to match. US strength in Afghanistan will be tripled relative to the Bush years, a fact that is sure to impress hawks in America. But just 18 months later, just in time for Obama's re-election campaign, the horror of war is to end and the draw down will begin. The doves of peace will be let free.

The speech continued in that vein. It was as though Obama had taken one of his old campaign speeches and merged it with a text from the library of ex-President George W. Bush. Extremists kill in the name of Islam, he said, before adding that it is one of the "world's great religions." He promised that responsibility for the country's security would soon be transferred to the government of President Hamid Karzai -- a government which he said was "corrupt." The Taliban is dangerous and growing stronger. But "America will have to show our strength in the way that we end wars," he added.

It was a dizzying combination of surge and withdrawal, of marching to and fro. The fast pace was reminiscent of plays about the French revolution: Troops enter from the right to loud cannon fire and then they exit to the left. And at the end, the dead are left on stage.

Obama’s Magic No Longer Works

But in this case, the public was more disturbed than entertained. Indeed, one could see the phenomenon in a number of places in recent weeks: Obama's magic no longer works. The allure of his words has grown weaker.

It is not he himself who has changed, but rather the benchmark used to evaluate him. For a president, the unit of measurement is real life. A leader is seen by citizens through the prism of their lives -- their job, their household budget, where they live and suffer. And, in the case of the war on terror, where they sometimes die.

Political dreams and yearnings for the future belong elsewhere. That was where the political charmer Obama was able to successfully capture the imaginations of millions of voters. It is a place where campaigners -- particularly those with a talent for oration -- are fond of taking refuge. It is also where Obama set up his campaign headquarters, in an enormous tent called "Hope."

In his speech on America's new Afghanistan strategy, Obama tried to speak to both places. It was two speeches in one. That is why it felt so false. Both dreamers and realists were left feeling distraught.

The American president doesn't need any opponents at the moment. He's already got himself.

Nation of Islam offshoot celebrates Seattle cop killer

Seattle cop killer Maurice Clemmons had joined the Nation of Islam while serving time in the Cummins Prison in Arkansas before being pardoned by then Gov. Mike Huckabee. (Huckabee's chances for another presidential run in 2012 have suddenly evaporated just like the 1988 campaign of Democratic nominee from Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, after giving Willie Horton a prison furlough). Now it is learned that Clemmons has been "honored" for his heroic deed in killing four Seattle police officers by a group calling itself the National Black Foot Soldiers Network.

Update, December 4, 2009. Just learned that Wordpress, the web site that hosted the vile garbage blog Male Black Felon has suspended this account for violating terms of service. Thank God for that.

On a web site called Black Male Felon they have posted a story praising Maurice Clemmons, “For Many Are Called But Few Are Chosen.” BOW [Black On White] Martyr Against White Terrorist & Racist Police Regime (Maurice Clemmons) Adorned With Virgins, Jewelry & Crowned; “When the Battle is Over, We Shall Wear a Crown.” – Seattle Black Foot Soldiers

If this were not enough racism the same group posted another story titled “Who’s Your Favorite Officer Down: Mark Renninger, Tina Griswold, Greg Richards or Ronald Owens;” Seattle Black Foot Soldiers: Shootings a Preemptive Strike on Terrorists with the accompanying photos and caption:

Caption and photos from Seattle Black Foot Soldiers web site "Members of Racist Regime of Lakewood Police Terrorists Greg Richards, Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens & Sgt. Mark Renninger witnessed to in preemptive strike by BOW Civil Rights martyr Maurice Clemmons."

Louis Farrakhan leader of the racist Black Muslim group Nation of Islam, has been a friend and supporter of our sometimes Muslim, occupier of the White House, Barack Hussein Obama since the time he was in the Illinois Senate.

Pamela Geller writes on Atlas Shrugs: "That the president would be deeply involved with groups that espouse this treasonous, ugly, violent hate is more frightening than anything else. Senator Barack Obama’s close ties with the Nation of Islam (NOI), headed by black racist and anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan have been well documented. The Nation of Islam is a radical, racist hate group headed by the greatest of hater of all things good, Louis Farrakhan. Farrakahn and Obama have a relationship that goes way back. Obama employed several Farrakhan followers in senior positions on his Illinois and U.S. Senate campaigns and office staffs. Obama’s relationship with Tony Rezko (who helped buy Obama's house and purchased the lot next to it for Obama) is linked to the Nation of Islam as well. Rezko is a Syrian Arab was in partnership with NOI founder Elijah Muhummad’s son, Jabir."

It appears that in our Politically Correct society, while it is OK for Black racist Muslim groups to preach hate and heap accolades on cop killers, anyone who tries to connect Barack Hussein Obama to these people is labeled a racist. Maybe president Zero will invite a few of the cop killer's fans  from the Black Foot Soldiers group to come to the White House and have a beer with the slain police officer's families?

Today, 11 months after occupying the White House, Barack Hussein Obama has surrounded himself with advisers from every Left-Wing group in the country. He has appointed outright Communists and Marxists to important positions within his administration. He has trashed the Rules of Law that our Republic was founded on. He is attempting to circumvent the U.S. Constitution and The Bill of Rights. He is bringing Socialism to America. 

18 months ago, during the presidential campaign, Obama lied to the American people about what his plans were for the "Change" he wanted to bring to our government. The voters should have realized the truth but they ignored all the warnings and instead, idolized his messianic image created by our Left-Wing news media.  Some people were not fooled and tried to warn us of what was going to happen. Does Barack Obama Believe in Socialism, Marxism, and Communism? Does "CHANGE" represent Barack Obama's long term goal of "ISM" for the US? Our Future?


Why would I ask these questions? This is why:

Karl Marx famously claimed that religion was an opiate of the masses.
